The new hidden gem of the Cotentin
The house is a former farmhouse built in 1732 and operated until 1975 by the Melchior family, after whom this unique property is named. Its typical Cotentin architecture will not leave you indifferent.
Exploring the estate is an adventure in itself: discover the washhouse, the old henhouse and dovecote, the pigsties, the bakery and bread oven, and the old stables…
In 2025, Maison Melchior will offer two cottages for 2 people and two guest rooms.

Dominique L2025-06-24 Great place for a vacation in a quiet hamlet . Ideally located near the GR 223 trail on the coast line. Small supermarket 400 meters with everything you need( fresh bread fruit etc). The huge garden is very peaceful and relaxing. Jolanda Diks2025-06-22 We enjoyed the small gite and terrace at Anne's beautiful French country house. The height of the gite in particular gave a nice atmosphere. From the vide in the bedroom a beautiful view outside. We also enjoyed the beautiful landscaped garden. From this location we took long walks near, along and over the beaches. For us a super nice holiday home. Nous recommandons ce logement 👍🏼 Brent p2025-05-11 We absolutely loved our stay! We visited for our honeymoon, and Anne was incredibly warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout. The cottage has a unique, almost indescribable atmosphere — a sense of calm and charm that instantly makes you feel at home. The property itself is stunning, with a beautifully maintained cloistered garden that creates a true sense of serenity and seclusion. While it's tucked away in the peaceful countryside, it's still within easy driving distance of major sites across Normandy. Omaha and Utah Beach, along with many museums and other attractions, are about an hour away. The nearby town of Flamanville has a delightful bakery offering exceptional pastries and fresh bread — a must-visit during your stay. The beach is also just a short 1 km walk from the property, offering breathtaking views. One of the highlights for us was the presence of four estate cats that roam the grounds. They’re calm, independent, and only engage if you show interest — a lovely touch for animal lovers, without being overwhelming for those who prefer to keep their distance. The cottage itself is beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches throughout, from the tasteful furniture to the characterful architecture. Everything felt intentional and inviting. Anne, thank you so much for your hospitality — we’d return in a heartbeat. Abdoulaye Diaw2025-04-20 This place was fantastic for our stay. Very nice and quiet.
